Thank you!!
I just wanted to come back to say a BIG thank you for all the advice and input we got on this thread:
New pussy cat - diarrhoea problems. Just to update, Esther is doing very nicely, and the back to basics approach with her diet has worked a treat. She is now producing almost consistently solid poos, and is doing them in her litter tray She came into season just over a week ago, and never having had a cat that wasn't spayed, it was a bit of an experience for all of us, not least, our old girl who was the focus of most of her flirting Today she is mainly very cheesed of with me, as I took her to the vet to be spayed - she's mainly eyeing me with a healthy disdain this evening ![]() She has really settled in and it busy coming right out of her shell; bombing about like a whirling dervish, mainly with a funny little black and white mouse that rustles, which she seems to have developed a strong attachment to. It just goes to show that patience is a good thing at the right time! We learnt a lot from the advice and input of people on that thread, and we're very grateful! Thanks again BB |

Re: Thank you!!
We will; just not tonight, maybe. It's been a long day, and it took me fookin' ages to post the last ones I did
![]() Also, I just want to say that I post on a couple of other forums, where the debate is, not only very different, but considerably more robust, so it's really nice to come somewhere that has a more gentle, and warmer, feel to it! Esther still hates me, mind ![]() BB |

Re: Thank you!!
A shameless bump of an old thread, but with good news.....
it turns out that Esther did in fact have t-foetus; we were a little 'Ooooh thats not summat that would affect one of our cats, after all, we've never heard of it before now', and went off on a diet tangent, however, the symptoms were exactly in line with what we'd read about, and subsequently confirmed by a test, which caused considerable interest at our vets, it has to be said. After a lot of thought, we decided not to go ahead with treatment; ronidazole was not licensed for use on small animals at the time. I have no idea whether it is now, but assume it isn't.... so, we put her on a dry diet (Hills Science Plan) and stuck with that, just so we would be giving her something consistent, that wouldn't be too challenging for her tummy. I accept that people will have different views about the merit of various diets, but this is what we did, so debate about it is pointless. ![]() The poos remained sloppy, extremely smelly and alarmingly regular for about 4 months, and then she started to turn out the odd, very acceptable, solid log, in amongst the, now usual, arse carnage. w00t! ![]() The solid logs became a more regular feature of her litter tray (not that we were obsessed or owt, you understand), and without consciously realising it, we suddenly recognised that all her poos were solid, apart from the very odd one, which I'm sure is about her gradually purging the t-foetus from her gut, but my partner thinks is more linked to stress.... either way, it matters not as we have a happy, healthy and incredibly enjoyable pussy cat who is in a very different space than she was 12 months ago... so, a MASSIVE thank you to those of you who mentioned t-foetus, when I asked about problematic diarrhoea. Whilst we chose not to go down the treatment route, we were able to make an informed decision about Esther, and we're grateful for the information that was given freely and with the very best of intentions! She started lying flat on her back as soon as she was spayed, and she now lies for periods of up to 20/25 minutes like this, usually watching the telly ![]() Cheers BB |
