fCov / Fip help

Hi Guys hope you're all well,

I need a bit of advice:

We have a ten month old Cat who has over 10k titres fCov, the vet is keen to have her speyed but I wanted some impartial advice really. What are the risks etc. and when considering the risks what are the chances?

Anyone any experience or thoughts?

All imput appreciated,

This a great site Feline Infectious Peritonitis and Coronavirus Web Site it looks as though there is a forum attached where you may find people who can give you more information.

I assume you are concerned that with a high titre level whether the stress of being spayed means a greater risk of your cat developing FIP as a result ?

Yeah That's pretty much what I'm concerned about.

As I understand it there isn't really a higher risk (according to the vet), but I wanted some further info.

Just because your cat has a high titre reading does not mean that they have or will develop FIP.

If you are worried rather than spaying I would put her on the cat pill and re-test in about 6 months.
