Re: what is bast age?
Hi Vera
My kittens not intended for breeding are neutered (spayed/castrated) at 13-14 weeks, before they go to their new homes. I know that many UK vets won't do this, goodness knows why not, as there has never been any evidence of adverse effects and it has been done in various other countries for around 30 years now. I guess most vets just don't keep up with current recommendations ![]() |

Re: what is bast age?
Before I had my kittens neutered I used to sell them with a contract stating that I would not hand over the registration documents until I had proof of neutering signed by the owner's vet. The contract said that they must be neutered by 6 months of age.

Re: what is bast age?
Yes, I have my kits neutered around 13-14 weeks and then keep them for a week after to go for a final check up prior to them going to their new homes. It is difficult though to find a vet willing to do them this young.

Re: what is bast age?
my kitten is beiong castrated in 4 weeks. He will be 20 weeks (5 months). This is the earliest my vet would do the op.

Re: what is bast age?
My boys get castrated at 12 weeks inbetween their first and 2nd vaccinations.
I don't neuter my females as I don't want them going to their new homes with no fur. As I resgister with TICA I am allowed to withhold all paperwork until I receive a certified neutering letter from a vet.
