Re: Who feeds their cat What ?

Goodness thats awful and I feel guilty that as a vegetarian and member of various animal rights organisations that I did not know about this.

Winston had been fed on a mixture of whiskers, hills science plan and royal canin which is on the lists of brands to avoid. I'm glad I've recently changed his food to applaws. (altough zooplus have sent my order to another customer in error and I've ended up with his order of dog toys so its not actually arrived yet!)

Re: Who feeds their cat What ?

Ditto - this came to public notice about 5 years ago and I haven't fed Iams or Eukanuba since then, but now I don't feed dried food at all anyway for other reasons.

Re: Who feeds their cat What ?

It's terrible when you think about it, animal testing is bad enough (in my opinion) but these companies are supposed to have the animals best interests at heart at all times. Not only that but they make their money convincing unsuspecting pet owners that they care about animals.

It is a shame this isn't more 'common knowledge' so to speak.

Good article tho

Re: Who feeds their cat What ?

I wouldn't feed mine them because of that reason to. I feed mine james welbeloved mixed with royal cannin fur ball control which I leave down all the time for them and they get applaws, almo, high life, fresh meat and fish as well I know my cats are totally spoiled.
James welbeloved is totally fine as far as I know

Re: Who feeds their cat What ?

Hmmmm I'm not keen on Peta - they always seem very sensationalist. I particularly don't like the fact that they seem there to be suggesting cats can be fed a vegetarian diet which contradicts everything I've read.

I do disagree with unnecessary animal testing and with cruel laboratory conditions, however.

Thanks to advice given on here, Fluffy is now on a diet of Hi-Life kitten pouches, Applaws kitten tins and Orijen dried food. I do still have a couple of pouches of Whiskas kitten left but don't intend to buy any more when that's gone.
