10 day old kittens with cat flu
Has anybody got any knowledge of 10 day old kittens developing cat 'flu?
I think a couple of my kittens (Siamese) are losing or at least not gaining weight. The mother started sneezing about 5-6 days ago and now my kittens are showing the signs. Wet noses and snuffling. I don't know what to do. Please help!!! My vet will probably give them antibiotics. I have made an appointment for tomorrow but although he is a good vet, he is not a breeder and I think a breeder would give me valuable information. Thank you in advance. ![]() |

Re: 10 day old kittens with cat flu
It sounds to me like your girl must have had it and because of the stress of labour that it's come out in her x
How are the kittens eyes also? If they're not gaining weight have you tried topping them up to keep them going? are the appetites still good? x |

13 day old kittens with cat flu
Thanks to you all for the advice. I suppose I just have to keep my fingers crossed for them. I have put them in the bathroom and filled up the bath with hot water and placed just the one kitten in a laundry basket with blanket and he is breathing much better now but he is very quiet so I don't think it looks good for him. He seems weaker than the rest. The others are with mum just now as they seem bright and strong and can breath. They have sticky eyes. I am sure it is calicivirus as it has happened before a while ago but I thought it had gone. I had no idea it would affect such young kittens. I bought in a female cat which developed a touch of cat 'flu after a few weeks and she didn't get it from any of my existing cats as they had never had it before, It was too late to stop it going to the others and they developed a touch of it too. I was angry but can't do anything except re-home them which is drastic.
Will keep you updated. |

Re: 10 day old kittens with cat flu
If its calici they may have ulcers on their tongues making their mouths sore and putting them off feeding. You will have to top them up if you want to give them a fighting chance, especially the little one that looks a bit weaker than the rest.
