Unhappy My kitten has been sick

I'm quite worried about one of our kittens, Dougal. He was a bit quiet yesterday but still ate his dinners and had a few plays with Ted. This morning I got up and only Ted was at our bedroom door looking for his breakfast, normally they both sit there waiting for us. When I went downstairs Dougal was still in his bed and didn't get up for any breakfast. He hasn't moved at all since I got up which really isn't like him. Ted has tried to play with him and he's just ignoring him. He has been sick behind the Christmas tree but its just liquid (too much to be pee). I've had a look and his little second (or third whatever it is!) eyelid is showing when his eyes are open.

Is a trip to the vet in order? He has never been off his food before.

The other thing to mention is that my OH currently has the flu, could Dougal have caught it from him? He's not a cuddly kitten and isn't keen on my OH so they don't really have that much contact.

I'm really worried about him, he's never been this out of sorts before.

Any advice greatly appreciated xo

I would take him to the vets hun you know your furbabies and how they are and if you feel there is something wrong then you should seek advise from the vets, kittens can go down hill very quickly good luck and let us know how you get on (((hugs))) to you all x

Re: My kitten has been sick

I think I'm going to take him to the vets this afternoon if he hasn't improved by then. My OH is off work ill today and he's said that Dougal was up and walked around then headed back to bed. We'll give him a few hours and if there's no improvement he's off to the vets.

Thanks for your help xo

I would take him straight away too tbh, he sounds v lethargic which is something the vet warned me about yesterday when I took Sam...told me if he gets like that he needs to be straight in - regardless of time of day.

I agree Amy.

I stress again taking him straightaway as my Barney was like this and had a ruptured tummy A lethargic kitten or cat is not a good sign xx

Re: My kitten has been sick

After your posts I've rushed home from work to take him. H2b has given him some food and he's eating away, still quite slow on his feet tho. I can't get an appointment until 2 so I'll keep you all posted
