Feeding advice please

Poor little Rosie earned herself a trip to the vets today.

She had been passing blood in her poo last night and today so I thought it best to get her checked out.

He told me she looks fine and healthy and he would say it was possibly colitis (oops sp) so starve her until tea time tomorrow then start her on bland foods gradually.

I have taken out some chicken to defrost and will boil that for her tomorrow evening. How much should I give her?
Is there anything else other than chicken which would be good for her tummy?

Thanks

Awwwww Hazel I'm sorry to hear that about Rosie

Mmmm not sure what else to add as for bland foods. Is her toilet runny at all? It's just that they say cooked pumpkin is good if that's the case & I know that Applaws do a chicken & pumpkin flavour maybe it's worth giving that a try aswell. So sorry I couldn't be of more help hun xx

Yes she is quite loose too.
I have some applaws chicken & pumpkin which is one of her regular foods.

I might give her a little of that tomorrow too.

Thanks xx

Re: Feeding advice please

Glad you went to the vets prior to asking our opinions - I personally would use - one I swear by - Naturediet Lamb - a little more expensive - but a first rate food - I do not know anything about the food you are currently using its it wet or dry. The chicken should be fine.
Bland food - chappie - is easy to digest if thats what you mean - though neither of mine will eat it - BUT - is it suprising the amount of vets that will recommentd if for these sort of problems - seems it's fish based and easy to digest.
regards
sue
ps - you can buy the nature diet bulk/wholesale and save a fair amount of money - worth is if you have big dogs like ! - but not so if your dog is a smaller breed.
regards
DT

Re: Feeding advice please

Thanks DT but she is a kitten, not a dog.

Thanks for your thought anyway.

She is currently fed on Applaws wet food and Almo Nature dry biscuits

Re: Feeding advice please

Thanks guys, I don't have any white fish in at the moment only salmon - so I doubt that would be ok.

The biggest question is how much?
She is a little pig and always acts half starved so I can't trust her judgement on it.
I don't know how much she weighs but she is 6mths old and quite a petite Tonk (probably on a par with a meezer of the same age)
Should I just cook I breast of chicken and give her a few strips at a time over the evening?

Thanks xx

Re: Feeding advice please

Coley is good to buy for cats - i try to keep some in the freezer. Cook it up in the micro-wave and give it to cats with rice! My two love it.
