Kitten teething/illness? WORRIED PLEASE HELP

Hi all,

Sam is male, ~4.5 mths old. His gums look like he is teething and has been off his food for about 4-5 days (completely uninterested, normally he will push Dee out of her bowl and eat hers as well as his own). Yesterday morning one of the two had had squitty tummy in the litter tray. Then when we got home from a day out yesterday one of him/Dee had been sick on our doormat (on gut instinct I thought it was him on both counts). We went out for a couple of hours this afternoon and not long after we got back I found Sam hiding in the hallway, his whole body was pulsating and I got the mat infront of him just in time for him to be sick onto. Neither times has he been hugely sick but then he hasn't eaten much either. I do think he has been drinking still though, is sleeping quite alot and quite affectionate (looking for cuddles etc). He isn't as lively as normal either.

Any ideas? Getting quite worried.

Agree, teething can make them feel a little out of sorts but at least with ours we've not had them go like this because of it,better get him to the vets poor little mite, and defo keep an eye to see if he's drinking as said above they can dehydrate very quickly especially with having the squits as well, plz let us know how he gets on and try and stay calm for him(easier said than done i know)

Re: Kitten teething/illness? WORRIED PLEASE HELP

He's eaten a little and I always fill their bowls each morning so I know he is still drinking. He has pooed not long ago, not squits but a little loose. Just debating in my head whether to take him after work or to take tomorrow off/work from home. Going to struggle though - need to be in work really (which makes me sound like such a horrible person).

Re: Kitten teething/illness? WORRIED PLEASE HELP

Hi Hun

I know it's a worry when your furbabies are off colour but please try not to worry. More than likely it is teething or just a bit of a tummy upset.

As Lou said, take him to the vet if there is no improvement and just make sure he stays nice and warm and drinks plenty.

Mine occasionally get the squits and I tend to starve them for 12-15 hours and then feed them small amounts of their normal food to see how they get on.

Fingers crossed he gets better for you

Lou

Re: Kitten teething/illness? WORRIED PLEASE HELP

It feels like I would imagine a baby to react to teething and he is still helping me dye my hair and the like so has some sparkle, plus has just climbed ontop of the bookcase for the first time publicly (we had our suscipions for a week ish). Think more than anything I just needed more experienced people to say 'yeah, thats all normal for teething'. He is drinking so not going to worry too much. Will see how he is tomorrow and then decide about the vet. Thanks all!!

Re: Kitten teething/illness? WORRIED PLEASE HELP

He ate a bit this morning without having to be bribed. Going to see what he is like when I get home and if he has been sick/squitty again will take him straight to the vet. He had started showing some interest in food last night but not as much as normal. I'm not very well so going home early anyway. Gives me time to decide about him and get to him vet today/tomorrow if not happy. He seems pretty consistant at the moment though, gut instinct is teething.
