teeth cleaning
hi, me again!
i wanted to no if people really can clean cats teeth with the little tooth brushes they sell for them. my vet says that angel needs to have her teeth cleaned by them and then i need to start cleaing them myself by feeding her a special diet and bying a brush. i noticed this morning when she yawmed that some of her back teeth looked almost brown with plack (sp?) i feel really awful that i didn't see they had got so bad. I really dont think that she would let me in 10 miles of her mouth with a brush! |

Thanks. i will look for logic when i next go to the vets.
angel currently had wet food and biscuits down but i think my vets wants me to feed her a special biscuits that helps with her mouth and helps to remove the plack. has anyone else tried this (sorry don't know the name of them cos he didn't say). |

Re: teeth cleaning
I'd recommend either using Logic gel or Plaque Off, plus getting your cat to chew on raw chicken wings. Chewing on bones is the best way of cleaning the cat's teeth - it's what they were designed to do, after all!

Re: teeth cleaning
If you're lucky they will
Raw bones are fine to eat, cooked bones are not. Cats are naturally equipped with very sharp teeth that are made for ripping and tearing meat, and crunching through the pliable raw bones of small animals. They also have very strong stomach acids, as well as very short digestive tracts, that are made to efficiently process raw meat and bone. - from ~ BENEFITS OF THE PREY MODEL DIET ~ Have a look at the link, it explains a lot about cats and eating ![]()

Quote:
As suggested chicken wings are a good way of cleaning teeth, chicken necks, backs and carcass (all uncooked) are also good. If your cat doesn't know what to do with a wing score the skin exposing the flesh ![]() I wouldn't expose my cats to a general anestetic just to to have their teeth cleaned. a GA is dangerous enough.
