Problem with cats eye

Hi All,

my 8 month old female cat has a problem with her eye, its been like this since yesterday.

Its her right eye, she is squinting a litt, it appears more reflective than the other eye, i.e. when she looks at me the right eye is almost glowing, where the left eye is clear and black, and she keeps recoiling away from things, like it is causing her pain, but she is quite happy to rub against my hand with that side of her face as usual, so there doesn't appear to be any localised pain.

In herself she is normal, happy to give and receive fuss and purr, and she is eating normally.

This happened with her left eye about a week ago and it was like it for about a day then cleared up, but now it has happened again I am worried.

I'm going to try and take her to the vet in the morning, but I just wondered if anyone had any ideas in the meantime?

thanks

Sam

Re: Problem with cats eye

Sounds like an eye infection to me - my cat had the same last weekend (See 'Weird eye reflection' thread), I took him to the vet and got some eye drops to use. Cleared up within a few days

Re: Problem with cats eye

I've just read this thread, it sounds similar to this

Weird eye reflection

her inner eyelid is a little more prominent than usual as in the above post, and the poster in this thread describes the reflection better than I can.

Re: Problem with cats eye

haha I was just referencing your thread.

I'll take her to the vet and get her some drops.

Its just a bit disconcerting to see her recoiling away, she doesnt look happy when she does it

Hehe there you go

Wilson didn't recoil from things, but he was sleeping a lot more and feeling generally under the weather. I hope that's all it is with your cat too

Re: Problem with cats eye

Well just got back from the vets, Neko's temperature is up and the vet said its most likely an eye infection. He gave her an anti inflammatory injection to bring her temp down, also an antibiotic injection, and some Fucithalmic eye gel to apply to the eye twice a day.

Hopefull this will see her right

She has already perked up, she's sat on my desk now looking at me expectantly whilst I eat a bacon sandwich
