Constant discharge

Hi all,

Looking for some advice for my 1 year old British Blue,Toby. I got him last April from a reputable breeder, but he's experienced health problems since then. One month after getting him, another kitten joined my household. Shortly after this, Toby experienced a discharge from his right eye. The vet prescribed eye drops, which failed to solve the problem. It took two further trips to the vets, and two courses of antibiotics for the eye discharge to clear. A couple of weeks later, he began to have a discharge from his penis.
Back to vets again, to be told that he has crystals in his bladder and that was causing the discharge. He has been on a prescription diet for the last 8 weeks, the crystals have cleared, yet the discharge still persists and is getting worse. A swap has been taken, but came back negative for any bacteria etc. The vets are unsure of what to do now?
Should I take him to another vet surgery for a second opinion? Could it be related to the 2nd cat in our house? I've heard some cats can be carriers for cat flu? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I feel like I'm going round in circles.

Gavin

Re: Constant discharge

I assume vets detected the crystals via a urinalysis? It's possible they're still present if the discharge is getting worse. Have they tried antibiotics ever though if swab came back negative? I also wonder about Cystaid ( you can buy cheaper online ) which is good for bladder inflammation. Also lots of fluids. I assume he's on a wet diet now. Don't believe this is related to cat flu though unlike the eye discharge.
