Unhappy Advice for dodgy tummy

Pud does'nt seem to be feeling himself these past 2 days, yesterday he seemed a little sleepy but was still playing with Rumbles so just put it down to the cold weather. Today he's barely got out of the box he likes sleeping in, he's eaten & had a little play with Rumbles but nothing like his usual self. This afternoon he used the litter box & god it stank & when i went into the kitchen there was a spot of blood on the floor. I checked the litter box & the poo was soft but not runny, when i came back into the living room Pud was scooting his bum on the carpet! Rumbles also seems to have soft poo, but is fine in himself they've both been regulary wormed & as house cats i doubt this is the problem. I will be ringing the vet in the morning, my question is should i take them both? Or just take Pud who is obviously ill & just mention about Rumbles? Am going to collect some samples tonight & tomorrow so that stool tests can be done. Sorry for rambling i worry bout Pud cause he's got a cast iron stomach unlike Rumbles who has always had tummy issues

Re: Advice for dodgy tummy

I would see how rumbles is in the morning. But if you are worried, I am sure your vet would not mind checking him over.

Just to reassure you, one of my indoor cats caught gastric enteritis and as a rule according to my vet, they don't pass things along. He just said to keep the tray as clean as possible, if only to prevent the stench!!!

Re: Advice for dodgy tummy

Well this morning Pud seems a lot chirpier, theres a slightly soft poo in the litter but no blood today. Pud has eaten all of his breakfast & is currently running aroung like a loon terrorising Rumbles. Guess he must've eaten something he should'nt have, they do have a habit of knocking over the kitchen bin! Will give them both some doses of pro-kolin & see how it goes if they're still soft tomorrow they'll be off to the vets

Re: Advice for dodgy tummy

Hope this issue settles for you.
If the cats are prone to tummy upsets, and you keep Prokolin in stock, then I would suggest that next time you buy this stuff
http://www.animeddirect.co.uk/Home/S...&Search=Search
A bit more expensive up front but a little goes a long way and I found it much more effective than Prokolin.

Thank you for the suggestion, i'm presuming this is easier than trying to syringe the mixture down them! Have looked at getting some probiotic supplement to add to their food for a while

Funnily enough, I figured out the whole syringing thing was just too intrusive, and Millie will happily lick Prokolin off my finger or a teaspoon anyway!
This comes as powder in sachets and seems to be palatable enough to add to food. The dosing advice seemed a little excessive and I followed Hobbs' lead in using a smaller dose of about 0.5g per meal.
I was already using my own quality probiotics, but even though I was dubious that this stuff could be better, I was proved wrong! It contains Butyric acid which actually rebuilds the gut wall as well as the probiotics.
