Re: Worried about Rowan :(
Mcwillow was he examined at the vets for any possible injury. My nellie fell off a window sill a couple of years ago and fell between the bannisters to the floor below. Although she was badly bruised and she was very quiet i did cage rest her for a few days. You may feel this is a bit excessive, but if you feel you should take him back to the vets, then do so. I know i would if i was feeling like you.
Is he limping at all?

Re: Worried about Rowan :(
Try not to worry hun
Is Rowan an outdoor cat? Could he have been in a fight or been bullied? Have you checked him all over for bites and/or sore gums? Sweetie get's like this after a scare or injuries or sore gums (which mean she can't move easily or goes off her food). She was also out of sorts when we got the pup, I got really worried and tried coaxing her with all sorts of different foods but she did recover. It might also be worth using a feliway diffuser until you know what the problem is. Given his weight, I'd be inclined to trust your instincts and err on the side of caution (no offence to your OH) & take him into the vets tomorrow. Good luck xx |

Re: Worried about Rowan :(
Steve (the vet) did a thorough examination. He stretched out both his back legs, he felt all along his spine and tail, he put him on the floor to see how he was walking (no limping) he pressed all along his sides, and his tummy.
There is no limping, no crying. But he isnt himself. He isnt palying and running, he definitely isnt jumping. He hasnt been up the cat tree since Thursday, and he still cant even jump on the sofa, he kind of scrabbles with his back paws. He is an indoor only cat. He just isnt him - of you know what I mean ![]() |

Re: Worried about Rowan :(
It might help others to know: have there been any major changes to your household or routine? What are you feeding and what has changed in his habits? Why might he have stopped using his litter tray(s) - where are they? He is 'just not right' but, apart from the lethargy/lack of strength, what other behavioural changes have you noticed? What tests did the vet perform? To an amateur, it sounds like a neurological disorder but I can't believe that the vet stopped with a cursory physical examination. Suggest you persist with vet and we hope that Ianthe and others can shed some light. Hang on in there - maybe tomorrow will bring some clues x

Re: Worried about Rowan :(
Go with your instincts and take him to the vet as soon as you can rather than wait. It may be he is just still a bit shocked and sore but better to put your mind at rest and get him checked again in case the vet missed anything first time round.

I am feeding Felix, as they wont eat anything else (believe me I have tried ) He doesnt seem to be off his food, he is still eating. He is still using the trays, they are both where they have always been, and the litter is the same (natures gold). The vet examined him for physical injury because I told him he tried to jump on the worktop, and fell down, then just laid on the floor where he fell. He got up and went to his bowl as soon as I put it down. No limping. It was later I noticed he couldnt seem to jump, and wasnt using the tree. He is still playing, but mainly with the track, where he can lay down next to it. No chasing after balls and mice, no running at all that I have noticed. |
