Natures Menu feeders please read

Hey guys

Ok this is just a FYI but yesterday I fed sheldon a packet of natures menu from a newly bought box of NM for his breakfast and he refused to eat it which I found a little strange and assumed he was feeling a little off so I left it down to see if he came round after a few hours of him not touching it I got concerned that he was poorly so just to be sure I ran across to my local supermarket and picked up a whiskas tin in rabbit which I know for a fact he will eat no matter just to see if he was being fussy or if he was feeling poorly then I knew if I needed to get him up to the vets, so once I got home I put a small amount of the whiskas down on a plate and low and behold hoovered up in no time, so then I assumed he was being fussy so for his tea I poped some whiskas into his food bowl mixing a little with his NM that had been down from the morning he took one smell of it and turned his nose up this had me concerned so I picked up his bowl and for some reason decided to sniff the natures menu! I realy wish I had done this in the morning it smelt FOWL!!! it smelt like sick it was awful !!!!! I even dug the package out of the bin and sniffed that ............It was evil!!...........I chucked the whole bowl of food whiskas included and washed his bowl and then placed what was left of the whiskas down and he ate it like a trooper!!

I have no idea why it smelt like that my OH seems to think maybe the package wasn't sealed properly or it was a dodgy batch. (all the food was in date)

So as soon as I could this morning I went to my local pets at home and told them what had happened How I no longer had my receipt or even the box but I wasn't happy!! and they were so apologetic and replaced the full box

Ok so my point is now I will be making a big point in our house of ALWAYS sniffing the package once it is open just to be sure.
So if you feed NM please be sure to do the same just in case there was a bad batch circulating.

Was it the kitten food or the adult cat food ( what flavour )?

Was the pouch of food from a box which contained 12 pouches?

Were you part way through the box - was just wondering if you thought the whole box was contaminated or just one particular pouch?

I will be having a good sniff at our NM each time I open a new pouch.

I buy NM by the box too, and I have also had the odd packet which has been off - and when I investigated the packed, found that it wasn't sealed properly - in one of the corners. So, I also do a sniff test when i open up each new box incase there are any more occurances.

I had that with Natures Menu a few months ago. I bought pack of 48, and in one of the boxes, a few of the pouches weren't sealed properly, the smell was disgusting. Although 3 of the 4 boxes were intact, I took them all back as the rancid ones had tainted the packaging of the others and I couldn't bear the smell in my house! Pets at Home exchanged the lot

Re: Natures Menu feeders please read

It can happen to any brand - the pouch has either been punctured or hasn't been sealed properly. The shop should give you a refund if you tell them.
