Won't stop scratching.
Hi All
Our cat Biggles has a patch of skin on the side of his head that he will just not leave alone. He's been de-flea'd and it's made no difference. The patch of ecoriated skin is getting larger and larger. Occassionally it dry's up but then he'll scratch again and open it all up and draw blood. We've started daily bathing of the area with iodine and dousing with aniti-bacterial powder. From today we've started to put him in a cone colar (but are wary of leaving him alone in the hosue during the day with this on). Is there anything else we could do. We do not want him to have a steroid injection as this pushed him into heart failure last time. The only other thing i can think of is a antihistamine such as benadryl (whicvh can be used in felines) but i'm just not sure of the dose. any ideas would be much appreciated. |
