my one cat soaps the other day started making this noise like a cough but like he was tryin to force something up. while he was doing it his mouth was closewd but some of his tongue was sticking out and he was moving slightly forward when he coughfed like he was heaving if that makes sense. its pritty scary when he does it and also ive notcied my other cat buffy has done the same thing once or twice since ive had him and she never done it before. they are healthy cats as they were both recently checked by vets for other things and they said they were healthy and there was nothing to wory bout but this coughf thing is worrying me. they dont do it alot and soaps does it a little more than buffy. this might sound so dumb but i can remember watchin telly program things well cartoons and cats on there got hairballs and i was wondering can cats in real life get them and is that my cats tryin to get rid of one. the slightest thing with my cats worry me ive never owned cats before them never been bought up with them so everything about them is new to me. any ideas please??? i panic when they do it. i try and stroke them and talk to them calm i think im just reasuring myself wether me doing that does anything for them i dunno???

Cats do get hairballs, they do what you have described and they can bring up fur. My Seb sometimes does this when he has groomed himself or Frankie, but has never brought anything up. I've got some hairball cream/remedy that helps

so its nothing deadly or bad ? it scares the monkies outa me i h8 it when they do it

If they can bring up the furball they will be OK but if not it can cause a blockage.

Furball paste and wet food should help, and access to grass.
