Re: Poorly Lexie!
Hi all,
So after the vet visit yesterday, I've tried her on rice this morning which was a complete disaster, one look and she ran a mile. Now I've just given her boiled chicken pieces and also a chicken wing for her to try - she hasn't gone near the chicken and would much rather play a game of football with the chicken wing, taken a few bites in between but that's about it. She hasn't eaten properly since yesterday and I'm starting to get worried. Is there anything else I can try? I'll try boiled fish tonight but it didn't go down well last time I tried it. Any tips please? |

Re: Poorly Lexie!
If it was me, I would just stick with the plain boiled chicken (don't feed just rice on its own), forget about the chicken wing and forget about the boiled fish (if that previously didn't press her buttons either).
Did you boil it up yourself or did you buy it already roasted? Did you serve the boiled chicken warm? If you made it yourself, did you add some of the cooking juice to it? Also, if you have a blender it might work if you just blitzed it in there. Could also be that she is still feeling tender. If that doesn't work then I would just start feeding the normal food; some food is better than no food and she has now had the AB and the probiotics, which should help calm the gut anyhow. |

Re: Poorly Lexie!
Thanks very much hobbs.
I boiled it up myself in water like the vets said and let it cool down completely before giving it to her. Would you reccommend trying it warm? I'll try it blended now as she has pate food normally so it might be better to do it that way. Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. ![]() |

Re: Poorly Lexie!
Yes, trying warming it up a little before giving it to her. That will make it make smell stronger and will become more appetising. But blending it might be better (and perhaps warming it up again too - bleurgh) if she is used to pate food.
Hope she feels better soon! |

Re: Poorly Lexie!
Aw, thank you.
I blended a bit of it, it looks vile and Lexie gave me the look. "As if I'm gonna eat that s***" Well this is all just splendid... ![]() I've cut the rest into small strips and she won't eat it out of her bowl but will eat it out of my hand? ![]() Thanks so much - trial and error I guess but hopefully something might work! |

Re: Poorly Lexie!
Royal Canin chicken and rice sensitive from the RC vet range really does help to alleviate diarrhoea.
I have a cat with a sensitive tum, and when he gets his 'loose poo' episodes (which are now, thankfully, few and far between), I feed him RC sensitive pouches for a couple of days; works a treat ![]() Royal Canin Feline Sensitivity Control Chicken 48x100g Royal Canin Veterinary Diets Cat for Sale |
