amount to feed

I've just swapped my 3 onto a mix of Animonda Carny, smilla and Butchers. I'm feeding 1 400g tin between the 3 twice a day, but there is always loads left over! Am I feeding them too much and how much should I be feeding them? They are all house cats.

If they are leaving food can either be that you are

1) feeding them too much, in which case just feed them less
2) they don't like the food. Have they maintained their weight? Are they losing weight and condition? If not, then probably more likely to be point 1

Hope that helps.

Re: amount to feed

They have maintained weight and condition and they do like the food they eat a fair bit of it, I think that I'm feeding too much. How much should I be feeding them?

Re: amount to feed

feeding recs are just that - recommendations, not hard and fast rules. Feed them what they need to maintain weight and health - this will be different for each cat, and only you can judge what is right. If they put on weight decrease the amount, if they lose weight increase it - it really is that simple.
bexs and hobbs2004 like this.

Re: amount to feed

Ari was eating a 400g in 2.5 days and loads of left overs.
So, I thought that I could afford better quality and more expensive food, smaller tins. She ate 200g of Grau in 18 hours!!

Ohhhh cats!!!
bexs, hobbs2004 and notsure like this.
