Just got this response from Felix

I have been wondering what the meat percentage is in Felix as i know some of the brands from zooplus etc have 80% meat in and was curious as to how much better than felix this is. I contacted Felix to ask the question of what the total meat content percentage was and got this response.

"Our Felix In Jelly Adult food contains 42.5 grams protein per 100 grams of dry matter"

Does anyone know what this actually means? they haven't answered my question have they? as if i'm right protein isn't just from meat but from corn, rice etc. so i'm still no closer to knowing how much meat is in it. So have they totally dodged the question? or am i just not understanding the response?

Nope they didn't answer your question. You could have calculated the protein content yourself at dry matter basis but as you say that doesn't reflect the meat content of the food.

Good luck and thumps up from me for trying - I have tried for a couple of years to get decent information out of them but either just got responses like yours or some meaningless PR speak.

Re: Just got this response from Felix

I once asked them about soya content in Felix and never had a reply. I had read the ingredients and was trying to avoid it as it can make cats hyper, among other things.

I wouldn't buy it if I could get Maisie to eat anything else, and I have tried - oh, how I have tried but she says no

I suspect a lot of it :-( along with dye. You should see our cream carpet after someone brings back her Felix the stains don't come out.

Most of the 'as good as it looks' and similar ranges definitely contain vegetable protein and considering the macro nutrient profile and texture I would hazard a guess at quite a lot.

Re: Just got this response from Felix

Hubby thought my zooplus obsession was silly until I gave in one morning & fed our two the Felix kitten he'd bought... By teatime we'd had to strip the litter tray (omega paw...bit of a faff when you do have to take it apart) and it took them two days to get back into their usual food routine. Never again...

Re: Just got this response from Felix

Maisie seems to prefer the Meaty Loaf ones, typically the most difficult to find.
Sometimes she will eat Whiskas.
Other than that she likes a little bit of tuna but will not touch any of the Encore or other tinned 'real' tuna since she was sick from eating the Animonda one.

I find if I mix in a better food with the Felix and she doesn't like it, she will avoid the flavour. She really is resistant to anything that is better for her, and yet when she arrived she was so hungry she would eat anything.

The AGAIL - we had a free sample sent by Felix, they both brought it up so haven't bothered to buy it.
