Animonda Carny tins

Reading about the N Menu reminded me to ask about the above.

Have noticed in latest batch delivered some beef tins contain some black streaky 'substance' of semi-solid consistency, not seen before. Cats are also refusing to eat it. Anyone else had this problem?

Re: Animonda Carny tins

Have only just added this into my cats diet, but they are certainly not as fussed on it as they are the Grau and Smilla.

The other foods get eaten in one sitting, but with the Amonida Carny they leave some and go back to it later.

Re: Animonda Carny tins

I haven't noticed those black things, but I did trial a few cans of Animonda a while ago. The first one I opened, multi-meat, looked really odd. Really large white lumps in it the size of 50p coin, chunks of darkened flesh. Very weird. The subsequent cans were all grau-ish though.
Animonda is pretty darn high in Offal (50% last time I checked compared to 25% or so for a lot of other brands), so that could help explain it.

Last time I checked it was closer to 60%. Wouldn't surprise me if some flavours were even higher.

Re: Animonda Carny tins

I always have the beef varieties ( so no multimeat ones included ) and even though variable in terms of visible offal ingredients usually more of as you say, Grau consistency. The cats really like it as well. This black oddity is only a recent thing and cannot see a resemblance to any food ingredient, offal or otherwise.

Hobbs- not realised the offal % was quite that high. Since Macs is far better think I'll switch completely, assuming they like it when it arrives.

I cannot even picture what this black streak looks like. Any pics to hand?

Has your Macs not arrived yet?

Offal or organ meat, the stuff other than "meat" (i.e. muscle meat) that make up an animal. Can be anything from brain, eyes, thyroid, tongue (though in raw feeding circles that can also count towards muscle meat just to confuse matters) to things like lung, liver, heart etc.

Animonda Carny, with the new labelling, now makes it clear what goes into each flavour. For example, Ianthi's pure beef version contains

Beef (68%, meat, heart, liver, lung, kidney, udder),

Have binned it now but will take some when opening next tin. Looks to all intents and purposes as if someone has laced it with ink, actually! Concerned when cats won't eat it.

No Macs yet. Out when called last week so waitng to redeliver.

Re: Animonda Carny tins

I've decided to take Animonda Carny out of their food rotation - they'll eat it (eventually) but clearly don't like it as much as Smilla, Macs and Petnatur. Just ordered some samples of Bozita pate (tetrapack, they didn't like the tinned stuff) and Grau to see if they like those

And yes, I found it looked odd compared to the other foods as well!

Re: Animonda Carny tins

Oh blow, another one to take off my list.
the batch I am using up now was bought a few months ago and I certainly have not noticed any black stuff in there.
Off to look at the Grau again.....
