Springtail bugs on my little man! Please help!

Hi, I have an 8yr old indoor cat named Jimi, he is my son and is the most important thing in my life along with my 2 other cats Rocky and Elvis. I take them outside to play for an hour every day, but the past month Jimi has started pulling out his own fur and has deveolped sores on his skin, after closer inspection I have noticed springtail bugs on him and in the carpet where he sleeps. In the past year Elvis and Rocky have both undergone emrgency surgery costing me over $5000 and I have recently lost my Job, I break down in tears because I cant afford to take him to see his vet, so please any advice would be greatly appreciated on how to rid my boy of these springtails

Springtails don't bite - are you sure it's not fleas?

You could just call the vet and ask for advice but in the meantime I would use a flea treatment and hopefully things improve. Keep him indoors as well for the moment. Springtails tend to feed on plant material though they may be causing him some irritation.
