Duck wings - an okay alternative to chicken wings?

Or too small to serve the same teeth cleaning purpose?

Come to think of it - I don't think I've ever seen a duck wing for size comparison lol..

Just noticed 1kg of them for just under £2, so thought I might pop some on the next order if there's a general thumbs up.

I'd imagine they'd be about the same size

I love trying new/different meats on lucky, so far she has only had chicken, turkey, pork, lamb, beef, fish and some green tripe. Would love to try her on duck and venison mmmmmm

Re: Duck wings - an okay alternative to chicken wings?

I give my boys some of the smaller birds that I get at the local butchers. They certainly enjoy gnawing on the wing bones so I imagine they have at least some benefit, although I don't know the comparative effect to chicken wings.

Duck wings should be a bit bigger so you should be fine. It's certainly a favourite flavour around here!

Re: Duck wings - an okay alternative to chicken wings?

Never tried duck (only had it myself for the first time last weekend and it was delicious ) but I got 2 quail yesterday. Chopped them up into various bits and so far she's eaten the wings, neck, ribs and breasts. She's having the legs tomorrow. Lovely small bones as mine wouldn't go near a chicken wing but these she can manage. I gave the spine and sternum to the dog as I felt these would probably be a bit too much for her yet, he loved them! There was about 200g in each quail, 2 for €4 which I thought was good, going to have to buy a few more as I'v been searching for them for weeks as they only seem to get the odd few in every now and again.

Re: Duck wings - an okay alternative to chicken wings?

Thank you for the quail recommendation, I saw some chicken wings in M&S the other week but there was about a kilo and if she doesn't like them they will be wasted. But the supermarkets do sell small game birds so might just have a go with one of those.

I read this on my phone and completely forgot to reply, thanks for the pic BC - they do look quite big, don't know why I just presumed a ducks wing would be smaller!

Dillon is a cutie! taking on something nearly bigger than his head, that's the boy
