Help fleas
Hi
I have 4 cats and use frontline every month and I have just noticed fleas on my eldest cat so I am assuming the test have them. I don't use collars due to losing a cat once due him getting caught up in a tree and died. I thought frontline was good. Does anyone know what else to use. I am not bothered about cost I just don't want my babies to suffer. 2 are mixed breeds 2 r pedigree. They are all outdoor/indoor cats. Thanks |

Re: Help fleas
Fleas are becoming immune to Frontline - try Advantage or ADVOCATE

Re: Help fleas
If your cats have all had fleas, and you are still having real problems getting rid of them then likely it could well be the environment.
Fleas mostly get on the animal to feed and then jump off, they lay their eggs and most of the life cycle in spent in the environment especially things like bedding sofas and carpets, skirting boards etc. If you use spot ons then I believe but double check the flea or tick has to actually bite the dog/cat to be killed, so it could be ones from the environment getting onto the animal that have yet to be killed. There are now two types of frontline too, a spot on you can buy anywhere almost and without prescription, and another that is vet or vet prescription only called Combo, and also a spray, which is again vet/vet script only. A lot of people seem to be saying front line isnt effective but Im wondering if the non vet/script one may not be as strong. You could try treating the house first/also and see if that makes a difference. Acclaim 2000 that youu an buy on line Online Vet | Get Cheap Pet Medicine and Treatments Online From Vet-Medic - Vet-Medic is one place, or you used to be able to buy this in boots chemist also, or maybe even places like Pets at home. Is a very good environmental flea treatment, also it leaves the home protected for a further 12 months. If you still have problems then I suggest you do change the flea treament for your pets too.

Re: Help fleas
Thanks for your help. Didn't realise they were in the house as well so I have got the council to come and sort out the house they only charged £50 which to me is a small price to pay for my cats health. I agree with what u said about frontline so I have tried what u suggested I combed them yesterday and so far so good. Thanks very much.
