Diarrhoe (sp)

Hi everyone

I am new to the forum

My kitten, who is 6 months old has really bad diarrhoe.

Does anyone have any advice please on what to do?

He won't eat cat food or cat biscuits and so his diet consists of tuna, sardines, ham and fresh fish. He occassionally has scrambled egg too. He used to drink lots of milk too but we stopped that and he hasn't had any for over 2 months now

Not really a cat person - (but do have cats) but all sounds a little rich to me - maybe you could look for a good natural diet

If this carries on for more than a couple of days take him to the vets!

Re: Diarrhoe (sp)

Hi,

Yeah the diet you are feeding your cat seems a bit too rich...and the milk alone can cause your cat to have dioarrhea.

Also has your cat been wormed recently???...your cat should be wormed monthly if it is an outdoor cat specially......if not wormed with a good quality womer i tend to use drontal then this causes dioarrhea....but im thinking for sure your kitty needs to get a good quality cat food.

Okay - would stop all his other food for now and try him on really bland food i.e. cooked white fish like coley and/or a little cooked chicken - perhaps mixed with a little rice. Then you can reintroduce him to proper cat food. Hopefully the fish and chicken will help settle his stomach but if the symptons persist for more than 48 hours you should take him to your vet to be checked over.

Re: Diarrhoe (sp)

It started this morning

I have tried starving him, and he refuses to eat. I have let him go all day without anything in a hope that he will eat cat food. I have tried him on every brand but he just refuses to eat

Yes he has been wormed lately too
