Question Dental

Hello
Sorry have not been on here for a while and have tried to find the info but it's slightly old.
Just been for boosters for Jet who is 3years old and asked about his teeth as his breath was now quite bad and he refuses to let me brush his teeth. vet managed to show me some teeth at the back which looked like they are lose and quite bad periodontal - almost stage 4. no question that he will have the work done and I am sadly aware that this is not covered on his insurance but need to have an idea of cost as Vet said could be between £200 - £450 but may be more depending on how much work her has to do etc. I just need more of an idea if anyone has had to have a similar thing done. Also, will jet be able to continue eating his Persian30 Royal Canin food as I have another cat? Obviously, will ask same questions to vet when I book him in but am just worrying about it now.

thank you all

Re: Dental

Poor Jet

Took this off our vets web site - "For cats the minimum costs are around £175 with typical scale and polish not exceeding £250. Extraction costs in the cat are very unlikely to exceed £450 but may commonly exceed £325"

I think it will depend on how many teeth he has to have out, Simba has had 4 out & has a good chew on the RC MC food if he gets his paws on it, but if Pepsi or Casper manage to get hold of any of the dry precription food we we give Scutter its straight back the way it went in they cant manage the MC food though its to big

Simba had a scale & polish last year & he's just turned 18 so Jet should be fine you can get a blood test done 1st though to check everything is in order
