Best Quality Wet Food from Supermarket?

I have decided to give my cat both Wet and Dry food having been on a fully dry diet and now having UTI issues.

Which wet food would you say is the best mainstream food from the Supermarket.

All suggestions and views appreciated!

Thanks

Hi-life, or Natures Menu will be the best you find in a supermarket - but any wet food is better than any dry. The worst wet food is better than the best dry especially for cats prone to UTI's.

If you can bear to shop online try Pet Supplies, Pet Food, Dog Food, Cat Food and Pet Accessories at Zooplus and look at Bozita pate, Smilla, Aminonda Carny and Grau.

Thanks Spid!

Are any of the ones you have mentioned similar to Gourmet/Perle? These made my fussy tortie sick.

Cheers

No nothing like that - I think - I've never bought that stuff. Nature's Menu is a rich pate, quite sloppy - make some cats a little whiffy but not all, Hi-life is more textured and normally in a jelly.

Do read the sticky at the top of the section.Feeding cats for beginners (and more seasoned cat owners alike)

Purely by Pets at Home is similar to HiLife but it's not shredded. The jelly is similar, I just have to cut it up for my kittens

Just to second what Spid has already said:

1) ditch the dry and just feed wet. So much better for all cats but particularly those who have a history of UTI (incidentally, did the vet check for crystals? Were they ruled out?)

2) buy your food online if you can from the likes of zooplus. Gives you such a wider choice of better quality foods, which just isn't had in supermarkets (even in P@H).

Re: Best Quality Wet Food from Supermarket?

its very expensive what you get on zooplus but i suppose if you dont feed dry food then that will make up for it

Re: Best Quality Wet Food from Supermarket?

I've only had my kittens 5 weeks but have become addicted to this forum and all the advice the members give. I have already placed an order with zooplus it's not expensive for what you are getting and (although i'm still waiting for it!!) and today i have ordered from Floyds and even with postage it works out a lot cheaper than the crappy felix i was giving them at first. And beside that I chose to get the kits and I think they deserve to eat as well as any of us do!!

Re: Best Quality Wet Food from Supermarket?

I believe Crystals were ruled out. To be fair the pee sizes are already starting to increase and she seems a lot more chilled out with less frequent bathroom trips. She is also back in the box.

I do order from ZooPlus for Litter, however I wanted to pick up some wet food for now in the interim until next order. I have to also balance the needs of both my DSH who has the UTI and my very naughty tortie who is a very fussy eater! Thanks for all the tips so far!

Oh the perils of cat ownership!!!
