UTI - How long until back in the litterbox?

Afternoon all.

One of my girls has developed a UTI which was confirmed at the Vet this morning. She is avoiding the litter box which I can only assume is because of the association and the pain.

She has now been given Royal Canin Urinary S/O wet pouches for four days and Metacam each day for the next four days.

How long do these things tend to take to clean up and when can I expect to see her using the litter box again? My carpet is taking a real bashing!!!

Any tips/advice/opinions appreciated!

Nope. Her pee was tested and there was not any bacteria present. They think it is just down to stress and she has got herself worked up! She has actually gone back to one box and done a few small ones so hopefully she is on the up!

Re: UTI - How long until back in the litterbox?

I see.

Has she got 2 litter boxes? When i first had my cat he had two urine infections, one after the other.

I eventually worked out it was because he only had one litter tray and he wouldn't use it a second time until it had been cleaned. This meant he was hanging on too long, especially when i was at work, and this was causing infections.

I gave him a second tray, check both trays several times a day and he's been fine since.

And i took him off dry food and added water to his wet food - mashing it up really well to make a gravy.

Hope your kitty is feeling better soon
