What to feed a skinny little cat who has just raised a litter

We're currently looking after our nephew's cat Molly while he's between homes. She's currently unspayed & has recently had a litter (I will be talking to my nephew about getting her spayed this weekend, I wasn't impressed that she's been bred from). She's a bit thin for my liking & her coat feels coarse compared to our resident cats. Is there anything I can give her to put some condition on her? I am going to start introducing Bozita & Animonda Carny with her dry once she's settled, then give her some raw later on, but is there any other food she may benefit from?

Re: What to feed a skinny little cat who has just raised a litter

Hi,

I think you're on a right path with Bozita and Anomonda + some raw in rotation.
My cats have been on exactly the same combination and their fur quality improved visibly on this diet. Last week I additionally bought some Grau as it is supposed to be very good quality food.

Is nephew's cat de-wormed? It could be a reason why she is skinny.

It's great that you have decided to care more for this poor cat

Try offering her some full fat goat milk. They usually love it.

Any good quality kitten food will be helpful. Kitten food is generally high in calories and protein which should really help.

I would ask for a vet advice regarding high quality supplements (vitamins and minerals), she surely consumed a lot with being pregnant and feeding her kitties.

As for the fur, I'd look for advice on salmon oil (or other fish oil) ratio.

All these added to what you already mentioned about the food, and which sounds great.

Completely agree with the goat's milk suggestion. Few cats will go through a pint or a litre quickly enough to stop some being wasted but it can be frozen so pour it into ice cube trays and freeze. Then you can defrost as much as you need at a time and the small chunks defrost in minutes.

Re: What to feed a skinny little cat who has just raised a litter

Thankyou all, I will get her some goat's milk, I was also thinking about trying my own cats with some Grau so she can have some of this as well, & will ask my nephew when she was last wormed
