Scooting

Hey guys
Ok this is a LONG on going problem I have been having with sheldon
He scoots (scratches his bottom) on our sofa every now and again, I have had his anal glands checked at the vets and they are not swollen at all and feel very healthy (checked twice by two separate vets just to be sure) the vet said he may just have slight swelling every now and again so relieves himself or they may have got swollen at one time and hes now found he enjoys the sensation it gives him.
This is a little weird to me and not very nice to have happen on my sofa do any of you think this is something I should worry about? or have any of your cats had this same thing happen?
(This happens maybe once or twice every couple weeks)

Re: Scooting

Hi,

We have sort of had this problem - but when we took Gus to the vets he had full anal glands which the vet emptied. However Gus continued to scoot on the sofa as well after, the vet gave us some cream called fucidal - think it is to treat infections (we affectionately know it as Gus's bum cream). We have applied it for a few days and it seems to have stopped the scooting. I must agree it is not pleasant to watch them doing it on the sofa is it!

xx

I've seen them do it!! Usually worms or poo stuck to bum! Quite common with kittens!
