Re: New Cat food
Hi flora696! I also got my two from a rescue a couple of months ago (they're now 6 months old).
They were on Whiskas Kitten at the rescue (or whatever food was donated!) - I kept them on this for a little while as they were settling in and I didn't want to add any further stress. I've now got them on a rotation of Smilla, Animonda Carny and Macs I ordered just 6 of Smilla, Animonda and Bozita from Zooplus to make sure they liked it - they turned noses up at Bozita, but am keeping it as I know how fickle they are!I had briefly introduced Applaws dry food but it first gave them the runs and then made them constipated so now they're on a totally wet diet (with the odd Thrive treat here and there sprinkled on their food). They didn't seem to enjoy it as much as wet food either. Perhaps if you order your litter as well as the few tins to try on Zooplus, this will take you over the £19 and get you qualified for free delivery? |

Re: New Cat food
I would try both and rotate - that way they won't get stuck on just the one - maybe add in some Aminonda Carny as well.

Re: New Cat food
Just to add to the excellent advice you have had already; don't forget about Grau. Yes, they contain some grains but they are all declared; a good food if your cats tolerate grains. And then there is the whole world of good quality cat food that you can import quite cheaply from Germany other than using zooplus...
![]() Here are some good reasons why it is good to have a few foods of similar quality in rotation: 1) it helps combat possible boredom with their food 2) no food is perfect and by feeding a few different foods you are maximising the chance that you are feeding a balanced diet in terms of nutrients (and are minimising the likelihood of any harm if you are feeding a food that has got a nutritional problem or that is in some way contaminated) 3) if a manufacturer changes the recipe or even discontinues a certain product you are feeding then you are not stuck up the creek scrambling around for something else your cats might eat. And them tinkering with their recipes happens more often than you might think. Oh and welcome to the forum! |
