Hi I am wondering what could be the risks of vaccinating a kitten twice over?

When we got Jumpy, I assumed he had been vaccinated because he was already 4 months and the family seemed nice, but they were not English and said he had been living with his sister before, so I don't think they vaccinated him themselves. We don't know if he was done before they had him, but our vet wants to do him next week, especially because the abscess he got from Treacle's playfight gave him a slight temperature, which seems to suggest maybe his immune system was unprepared, i.e. unvaccinated.

Will there be any risk with vaccinating him if he's been done before?? He certainly wouldn't have been done more recently than a month ago. The vet thinks it's best to assume he hasn't been vaccinated.

Don't cats have a vaccination passport in England?
Over here, when a cat gets his first vaccination, he gets a vaccination passport aoth the date and type of vaccine, and the date for the booster.
So you can always see when his next vaccination is due.

If I get a kitten with no vaccination passport, I will assume he has not been vaccinated.

They don't get a passport, but sometimes they get a card, however Treacle didn't get one for his!

Would have to agree, in this case when you don't know his vaccination history, its far better to err on the side of caution and assume he hasn't been done.

So where did the vet record the vaccination? There is a peel off sticker giving batch details which they should attach to the card they give you. I'd go back to the vet if I were you and demand the proper record.

When we found Pickles 3 weeks ago the vet guessed she was about 10-12 weeks. We had no idea is she would of had any of her vaccinations already. The vet said if would not hurt her to do it again even in such a short period of time so I agreed to get them done. It did suprise me though but i do trust my vet.
