Re: Type of Anaesthetic for neutering?
I have no idea, but would imagine that your vet would be the best source for this information, as they will be able to tell you the exactly what they use (I assume that there are a number of different brands on the market).

Re: Type of Anaesthetic for neutering?
All practices are different but we always gave a premedication - which was dependent on age/health etc, one sedation offers a pain relief and sedative, the other a mixture of both with a narcotic aswell. Once the premedication has taken affect (10-15mins) the anaesthetic can begin. With the first type of premedication I described a further drug is required to induce anaesthesia in the patient, for the second, the patient is already sedate enough to pass the endotraceal tube. One the tube is in place oxygen can be provided and breathing monitored - a volatile agent can also be used to deepen anaesthesia if required. Hope this helps
vets don't always provide as much info as you would like. Pm be if you have any more questions as I wrote this quickly! Also, bare in mind that not all practices follow the same protocol xxEdit - just realised you said it worked out fine! Sorry! Glad all went ok and hope you have a little more info on it all now ![]() |
