Picture the scene - It's 6am in the morning and my 2 kittens have got one thing on their mind, and that is food. I am wanting my breakfast, but slaves always have to be fed after kittens. The water in the kettle is obviously cold because it has not been boiled for at least 8 hours. So, if I begin the process of boiling the kettle and waiting for it to cool, the kittens would be going mad for their breakfast. So, I can't do the 'adding water' thing on a morning.

What happens at Moggy Towers?
What about swapping the feeding time to evening ?

Re: Marmite???

A good way to get more fluids into your cat is to dilute one of those small 80g of tuna steak in spring water cans with 2-3 cups of water and mix well. Freeze it in cubes or tupaware if you like for storage.
Also - lactose free milk works well. Mine love it. Lactose free milk from the supermarket is much cheaper than whiskas cat milk and is the same thing as far as I know.

Re: Marmite???

I have a Drinkwell Fountain (Platinum). i used to have a Catit dome fountain, but I found that the water and the bowl got dirty and algae quite quickly (after a day). I find the drinkwell doesn't get as dirty as quickly, probably because the water circulation is stronger.
Regarding the marmite, I would agree that the salt content is too high for kitties. The advice from the other posters is good advice. If you like you can make your own flavoured broth by boiling up a few plain unseasoned chicken wings, and then straining and perhaps adding a pinch of brewer's yeast for flavour?

Re: Marmite???

Does the water really need to be warm? I make cat gravy by mashing up cat food very thoroughly and mixing in plenty of cold water - a blender would probably do an even better job.

I store it in a container in the fridge - it seems to be ok for 2-3 days. Just serve the food and pour on some gravy

When you add hot ( not boiling ) water to the food it makes the smell of the food stronger - and kittens / cats seem to prefer quite strong smelling foods - it is more appealing to them.
