Good weight for BSH

Just been to see the vet nurse again to check on Cookie's weight and health.

On the 4th December at her first visit she was 3.1kg, today 4 weeks later she is 3.4kg, so she has gained 300grm in 4 weeks. The nurse said I need to keep an eye on her weight as a few hundred grammes can soon turn into a kilo.

Cookie is 8 months old, but I don't know what is an average weight for a British short haired cat.

Re: Good weight for BSH

There are plenty of BSH owners on here who will probably be in a better position to advise but they are a big breed and I would have thought an average adult female would weigh 5-6.5 kilos so she's still got plenty of growing left to do, her current weight doesn't look out of the ordinary to me

I have two BSH girls. Izzy who is now 7 and a half months, and Isla who is 8 and a half months.

They were last weighed a couple of weeks ago just after they were spayed and weighed in at 3.2kg (Izzy) and 3kg for Isla.

They were both weighed a few days before (the day they were spayed) and both weighed 3kg. So Izzy piled on 200 grams in 4 days!

They vet said their weights were perfect for their age, but just to watch Izzy's weight gain.
