Conjunctivitis

Poor Harry's feeling a bit sorry for himself today.
When we got up this morning I noticed his left eye was almost closed and a bit puffy. He seemed fine in himself but it looked quite alarming! The vet has diagnosed mild conjunctivitis.

I've never even had this myself so was wondering, how long it usually takes to clear up. We have some eye drops to give him twice a day (think I'll get OH to do that risky job!), should we keep using them til they're finished even if the eye looks better? Forgot to ask the vet this morning, being half asleep still lol.

Re: Conjunctivitis

My cat has calcivirus which means he suffers from chronic conjutivitus when he has flare up vet tells me use drops continuously for 2weeks even if it clears up before then . I also give him l lysine and pulsatilla when he has flare up . Mite be different with ur cat as could be just a once of but mine has 3flare up since start of December . Also use camomile tea bags on his eyes seems to sooth his pain a little .

Re: Conjunctivitis

gali had conjuntivitis - the vet said 1 week
it would be easier with two of you - one holds cat while you hold eye open & put drops in

Re: Conjunctivitis

Thanks for the replies. I read the other thread and I'm really hoping this is just a one-off occurrence!
Harry's eye seems a lot better today, whilst still not totally back to normal. OH has a shredded hand from trying to get a Fusithalmic drop in the eye last night!
