Animonda Integra Protect food for kidney failure

Has anyone used any of these foods?

I am looking for a wet food as an alternative to the Hills and Royal Canin which have been rejected and these are listed on Tanyas CRF site. Non prescription but formulated for cats with kidney disease.

I was wondering if they are more palatable than the Hills & RC.

I seem to be buying a lot of food from Zooplus only to find that neither of mine will eat it, and if one of them does it isn't for very long, the other one will eat it twice then bring it up and he is the one that needs the renal diet.

Re: Animonda Integra Protect food for kidney failure

I haven't tried Animonda, but my Misi quite likes the Beaphar renal food, also available from Zooplus. She sometimes has Kattovit, but I'd definitely say that Beaphar goes down better.

Re: Animonda Integra Protect food for kidney failure

Thanks Misi I did look at that but it said not to feed any other food at the same time, and I wondered why as it seems a bit odd?

I am having to give a mixture of foods to get meds into him and to get Kaminox into him, and sometimes just to get food into him. He has prescription dry food which I am not mad about giving him but he has to eat something and it is better than nothing.

my cats have not tried the renal ones, but they have the ones for sensitive tums and they go crazy for them, even those without the sensitive tums!

Re: Animonda Integra Protect food for kidney failure

Well, I have ordered a Beaphar mixed renal pack and some Terra Felis this time.

I have tried so many different ones already, not renal ones, and he has always brought them back up on the second meal, even just a teaspoon hidden in his regular food, I hope these are OK. He seems to be wary of anything new.

Re: Animonda Integra Protect food for kidney failure

Good luck with it. I feed Misi loads of different things. Don't know why Beaphar should say just to feed that. I didn't notice that bit It is a nightmare getting renal cats to eat. Misi also has stomatitis, so there's the uncomfortable mouth to contend with, too. Like you say, it's important they eat something in the end

Re: Animonda Integra Protect food for kidney failure

My order has arrived but I don't have it yet, hopefully there will be something in there he will eat.

He is managing probably a third of what he used to eat, have had to resort to giving him things I have been trying to avoid.

Re: Animonda Integra Protect food for kidney failure

Hello Maisiecat,

Please do try your little one with the integra renal protect from Zooplus. My CRF cat, Domino, is the most fussy old tomcat in the world, but he loves it. Especially the Chicken and Turkey flavours. I can't believe how much difference the food has made to him. He's gone from eating virtually nothing to 3 or 4 of the integra foils a day. The stuff is really palatable. It smells absolutely lovely - so good, I'm tempted to eat some myself! It's far better than those horrid prescription diets. If Domino the fussy tomcat, age 15, will eat it, I'm sure yours will too. Its definetly worth a go. Theres a lot of reviews on Zooplus about the food, and they are true. I'm so glad I tried Domino on it.

Best wishes,
Ray

Re: Animonda Integra Protect food for kidney failure

Thanks Domino, I looked it up on tanyascrf and it says it is high in Vit A so didn't order it but I might next time.

He is being very difficult and not eating wet, he knows that he will get fed dry which I had stopped but he has to eat so is getting a mix of JW and his renal diet. He had a tiny bit of the Beaphars and ignored the rest and won't eat the Terra Felis.

I am looking for something low in phosphorous to tempt him with, but in the meantime he has to eat something. Problem is he loves dry food and plain white fish and will hold out until he gets what he wants.

Re: Animonda Integra Protect food for kidney failure

I have posted this tip before on "renal" threads.
My sadly departed 17yr old cat was diagnosed @ 14 with renal failure,we were in the dark and thought only RC renal existed, our cat just used to lick the gravy off and walk off leading to us worrying bout her weight, etc.
One day we decided that if she was gonna go she was going enjoying her food,so we shredded some cooked chicken into her food (1 small piece for each satchet),then we warmed the food for 10-15 secs in the micro and stirred it all up.
The difference was immediate and astounding, plate cleaned everytime
We got another 3 yrs with this method and only decided to put her to sleep when her mobility and toileting became an issue.
Hope things work out for you
