Natures Menu

Good evening all, I hope your well

Well all throughout today I have read, browsed and attempted to educate myself with the required knowledge of the nutritional and dietary requirements of my black panther friend Leo. Some of it has actually stuck itself to my brain and I have found myself reciting it to my husband without really realising where it was coming from

Now he is going on three years old this april I believe and all his little life has been fed on dried food along with the other cats in the house hold. He wasn't mine at that point and after I left I thought their was no hope in owning him.
During the time I was away living with my army hubby in our home, we had received news we had to take him on due to his 'bullying' ways. This we did and he is now home with us.

Well before I even knew about this forum we purchased a bag of dried, yes I know so please don't shoot me I am kicking myself, Whiskers food until we could find something more suitable. Well I'm beating myself up so much knowing that I'm feeding my boy rubbish and so researching as best I could for a great wet food brand.

Im really intimidated by the heaps of information I am reading and even though I'm taking it in am not able to decide fully on wet food brand. I just don't want to make the wrong decision again.

Well I have come across one brand so far that has caught my eye. This brand in the Natures Menu and is sold in two stores close to me. Can anyone give me any more information on this brand or give me any other recommendations. All help will be really appreciated.
I am a complete newbie to cat ownership and I am all up for any advice that you are willing to share.

Thank you
xx

Re: Natures Menu

IIRC, Nature's Menu is a medium-high meat protein complete food which is easily accessible (due to being sold at P@H), is sold in pouches, and is fairly expensive. Downside is that it contains various sugars.

I've fed it to my cat before I took the plunge on ordering online. It's better than food with loads of jelly/gravy fillers, but like I said, quite expensive for what it is. Your money can be better spent online if you don't mind ordering online, but if I have no access to the internet for a prolonged period of time and I need to get some cat food in from a local store, I will probably buy some Hi-Life/Nature's Menu to tide my cat over.

Re: Natures Menu

Thank you for replying hun, really appreciate it

I did look at the prices and was a bit stunned with them but thats P@H. I did check with another website and store that is closer to me and it appears slightly cheaper but with the added various sugars it will be a no no.

It does look really good but then I will be taking your advice about ordering online.

I have read on here that zooplus sells Bozita, Smilla, Grau and Amindona Carny and I have just recently taken a peek and have liked what I have seen on the brands. I want to use Zooplus for my two hamsters soon and so it will make it a whole lot easier in doing the pet buying in one clean sweep.

xx

Re: Natures Menu

And Kerfuffle remembers correctly.

Hey xxFlair, welcome to the forum and to feline slaveship. And kudos to you for wanting to find out more!

As Kerfuffle has said, the better foods are only available online (another good food to pick up from the likes of Waitrose/Ocado or your independent pet shop is Lily's Kitchen, which is a tad pricey but it is organic and made by a small business in the UK).

One thing to keep in mind though is that you shouldn't just feed one brand but ideally two or three (or even four or five) in rotation. That not only prevents boredom but since there is no perfect cat food you don't want to put all of your eggs in the same basket (gosh, twice now I have used that phrase today...).

Rotation of foods isn't really a problem if the foods your are feeding are of the same quality.

Thank you for your reply Hobbs, really appreciate it.
I have decided to order online at zoozone which will make it a whole lot easier when purchasing bits and bobbles for the hammies and I know I can get a few different good brands for rotation.
I really do appreciate all these replies and this advice so thank you
