Switching foods

I started Cookie on the dry food I she was supplied with and then switched to Natures Best dry. I have since switched to Natures Menu kitten food which she likes. In fact she has eaten all the food I have put down for her.

Yesterday the Bozita arrived so she had some last night. This morning she wouldn't touch it, so I left her two varieties of Bozita down while I went to work. When I got home she hadn't had much of either

I ordered some Macs but that hasn't arrived yet, should I just leave the Bozita down and hope she eats it. She is currently "shouting" at me, so not sure if she is hungry or jus wants attention. I put some Natures Menu down when I got home but she hasn't touched that either.

Looking for some advice.

Re: Switching foods

She's probably having carb/ dry withdrawal - stick with it - keep offering her small fresh amounts, maybe zap it very briefly to warm it up and bring out the smell, or sprinkle it with small bits of treats, or put warm water on it to make a gravy. Be strong.

Re: Switching foods

Definitely stick with it - try the sprinkled treats on top idea. As Spid says cats get addicted to carb laden dry food - imagine what a child addicted to junk food would do if you gave him a chicken salad. The naughty cat food maufacturers get our cats addicted to carbs which are basically junk food for cats

Re: Switching foods

I getting a little concerned she isn't eating enough, she isn't interested in the Macs and will only pick at the Bozita. I tried adding a little hot water to make more of a gravey and I added a little tinned tuna to the food but she has the tuna and a little more but definitely not finishing the plate like she did with the Natures Menu and the Applaws.

I just poached a piece of white fish in milk and gave her a little of that which she ate, but again just picked at the Bozita.

I now have 22 Boztia and 23 Macs in the cupboard

Re: Switching foods

Have you tried mixing it in with the NM and then gradually decreasing the amount of NM?

Re: Switching foods

Mixed a little in but she picks out why she wants, I'll try more of a 50/50 and mix it together.

Re: Switching foods

I'd start with about 75% NM and 25% Bozita and really, really mix it well.
