Dried chicken hearts

Tried something new today ( got the idea from CRAP on facebook, Cats Completely Raw and Proud )
I took one pound of chicken hearts and snipped them up into small pieces, spread them on an oven tray and then dried them out in a low temp oven ( 150 c ) for a couple of hours. The result is a pile of crispy chewy chicken hearts.
I thought they smelt pretty darn tasty but of course my bunch of feline over lords are not so easily pleased. Millie does seem to really like them, but as she is just getting over yet another bout of dire rear I hope I have not let her have too many.eek:

Re: Dried chicken hearts

HI,

CRAP sounds interesting. what is it like? The chicken heart idea sounds great. My cat used to love chicken hearts only she doesnt seem to tolerate chicken well. apparently they are great for us humans to eat as well. Dont think i've tried them though.

Re: Dried chicken hearts

Cat CRAP ( have to laugh every time I think of that name ) is a friendly facebook group that supports raw feeding, prey model style.
I am lucky in that I have several ethnic and Halal butchers near me that sell chicken hearts, as well as lots of other interesting offal and offcuts. The chicken hearts smell pretty tasty as they are dehydrating....not sure I would want to eat them myself but I have an Indian Friend who licks her lips whenever I mention the raw delights that I prepare for my spoilt feline friends!
