I came across this forum when searching for a solution to my cats eye problem and you all seen very informative so I wondered if you could help?

On new years eve our cat came in with blood on his nose so we immediately took him to the vet who soon found two puncture wounds in his neck and established that he had been in a cat fight (although he couldn't see anything wrong with his nose). So anyway, we were given some antibiotics for his wounds in case of infection.
The next day we woke up and noticed he couldn't open one of his eyes properly and it was running with a milky fluid. Back to the vets we go - they now say he has conjunctivitis and they give us Fucithamic Vet drops (Fusidic acid). However we gave him these for a couple of days and here wasn't any improvement in the eye, so we went back again and they prescribed Maxitrol. Now this has worked with the runny eye and the swelling but after 4 days of these new drops his inner eyelid is still very red and slightly showing more than it should. The vet said not to give him the drops for more than 5 days which is tomorrow, so I'm not sure what to do with him if he's not better by tomorrow? He's fine otherwise and eating normally.
Does anyone have any advice to share?
Thanks in advance!
Did the vet use the dye to put in the eye to examine it when you took him originally and since? Putting the dye in shows up any injuries or ulceration to the actual eye. If there is injury or ulceration then usually drops or ointments wit steroids sould not be used. I know maxitrol is antibiotic and steroid not sure about fucitalmic I tink its just antibiotic but you will have to check. Maybe he has a scratch or injury to the inner eyelid.

Thanks for your reply, yes he did use the dye and couldn't find any damage to the eye. He was also on antibiotic tablets for his fight injury, i thought would these have helped in healing the eye also? But it does make me think that it could have been scratched as it started the day after his fight. How do they normally treat an injury in the eye?

Hi, thanks for your reply. The vet did use the dye and couldn't see any scratches on the eye. How would they normally treat this kind of injury? It would make sense that he could have scratched it as it happened the day after he got into a fight. He has also been in antibiotic tablets, would this have helped at all for an eye injury?

Thanks for your reply. He did have the dye test and the vet couldn't see any scratches. It is strange that he developed it the day after being in a fight. How do they normally treat this kind of eye injury?
