food questions...

Hi!

I used to feed my cats almost exclusively on dry food (Orijen and Sanabelle) but after reading information on this forum I would like to feed them wet food too.
And so I have a few questions:

1.) Is it OK if I feed them wet food in the morning and than dry? (There are 4 cats and they get 400g tins of cat food) Or would it be better if I fed them 1 day only dry and one day only wet (roatation).
I would like to still feed them some dry as we travell with them sometimes and on travels it is easier to give hem dry food. Also our youngest cat has been having reoccuring teeth/gum inflamation so she needs dry?

2.) I looked at zooplus.de (as I am from eu, not UK) and have decided to try them on: Bozita, Grau, Schmusy and Animonda Carny for now. Does this sound OK? I would rotate he brands and flavours.

But I would like to give them as much variety as possible so can you suggest any other wet cat food available in eu market? Also my budget is max 7e/kg of cat food...

3.) do you know of any german (or UK if they deliver to eu) online pet shops with good cat food at decent prices (as mentioned I have 4 cats along with 2 dogs and can't afford to buy 12 e/kg of wet food. I do feed all of them orijen tho)

4.) Is Monge wet food a good one? I bought some from our local pet shop and the cats really liked it. It is fish based...

Thanks

Re: food questions...

OKay - i can only answer some of your queries but shall give them a go - also have cat on my arm so typing is slow - might revert to stilted sentences.

1) it's fine to feed them dry at one meal and wet at another. However the idea that dry is good for gums/teeth is a complete myth - a) the kibble shatters when bitten and b) most cats don't even bother to bite it - it goes down whole ( as you can tell when they puke it up) - the best thing for teeth is a good chunk of raw meat preferably on the bone so they really have to gnaw to get it off and that then scrapes the tartar off and massages the gums well. When travelling we use a kids insulated lunch box and pop tupperware containers in there - and we feed raw too.

2) good choices from Zooplus - others will be along with other foods and places to buy them from as I only tend to buy from there.

3) don't know
4) never heard of it.

Re: food questions...

I buy the really cheap chicken wings (remember raw NOT cooked) - but anything that is on offer that they will eat - you may need to tempt them to begin with - slice into it , even warm it up very briefly, smash the bones with a hammer etc, but eventually they get the hang of it.

Re: food questions...

At what age can you feed chicken wings to a kitten. I have a 7 month old, which I have had since the beginning of December. I started her on dry food as that is what I thought was best, but since reading PF I am moving to a wet diet. She also has tinned tuna, some white fish and cooked chicken.

I recently bought Natures Menu pouches and yesterday ordered some Bozila. I would like to feed her the healthiest diet I can but would be a bit worried about small bones, although I did read the post about them knowing what they are doing.

Re: food questions...

My 2 are 6 months old, and have been having raw chicken bones for a couple of months now (not as often as I should be giving them to them but I keep forgetting to take them out of the freezer). They mostly just eat the meat off them and play with the bones, but there is some gnawing going on. I must try spids suggestion above of hitting the bones with a hammer next time to see if that makes a difference. While they will most likely be fine, I like to err on the side of caution, and supervise while they are eating/playing with the chicken wings (while it may not stop something happening, at least I'd be there to react immediately if something does).
