cat with a cold

Hiya,
has anyone had a cat with a cold? Archie has a rotten cold, sneezing, off his food and an awful snotty nose, I have taken him to the vets and he has an antibiotic jab and was told to keep an eye on him. How long does the snotty nose and feeling like "poo" last for? Hes on his second day without eating but is drinking a little.
Its so awful watching my poor baby, god knows what it is like for him

Aw, poor little Archie Our two had the sniffles for a while (lasted just over a week) but it was caught before it turned into anything else and the vet advised us to keep them warm and inside (they're indoor kitties anyway!)

Hope he gets well soon

Well good for you for taking him early!

Ours were only 4 months when they got it (they were at a shelter where all the kittens had it), poor little guys!

Been back to the vets this morning with Archie, she says he's no worse but gave him something to boost his appettie.
So its syringe feeding till he feels up to eating by himself.

Re: cat with a cold

my ragdoll sonni had a cold last month with runny eyes and bunged up.
try putting some obas oil on his bedding and if you can give him some steam with obas oil in it that will help him with his breathing. if he cant eat its because he cant smell his food ie that why he's not eating.
sonni was given antibiotics cant remember what they were called but nothing i have heard of before, and he had a 7 day course, but it took him a couple of weeks before he could eat properly. sonni also had to have a stimulant for his appetite but because of his other problems it had side effects, but it did give his appeitite a boost.
also keep him in a warm room. i had sonni in my kitchen because the boiler is in there.
