Can you advise me on raw chicken wings?

I have seen that a few of you feed these from time to time and I hear they are good for their teeth. What age is it ok to feed these from? I am assuming it's not a good idea for a kitten...? Is 4 months too young?
Do you just get the cheap ones from supermarket?
Do you just give it as it is or do you need to do anything first? Like remove any bits etc. Its all new to me so just looking for some guidance please?

Re: Can you advise me on raw chicken wings?

My kittens have raw chicken wings from the start of weaning - Mai Tai brought one in from the kitchen for her last litter and just plonked it in their box She knows what's good for them
I'd say at 4 months they are more than ready Just buy a pack of 'value' ones from the supermarket. I split the pack and freeze them in twos.
If your kitten doesn't show any interest cut into the skin a bit so that he can get at the meat. Be prepared for it to be dragged around and 'killed' first though. It may take him a while before he will start doing much more than play with it but once he gets the idea that it is good to eat there'll be no stopping him.
The bones don't always get crunched up here and I take away anything left at the end of the day.

^^^ This. Also, I would say that if you can afford it I would go for perhaps more appropriate bones, such as those from quail and poussin.

Re: Can you advise me on raw chicken wings?

I suggest putting the cats and their chicken wings in a pre-cleaned bath. (Cleaned with water, no chemicals).

Makes the cleanup afterwards easier.

Re: Can you advise me on raw chicken wings?

^^ I wouldn't do this personally, but do what works best for you.
I feed Asda's Smart Price ones, about one a week.

Two cats, one just over a year, one about 6/7 months. The cat doesn't seem to enjoy them as much now (lazy?), but the kitten thinks they are a riot.

I usually take away any bits left after 18 hours or so (at the most) and as other poster said, be prepared for them to be dragged around the house. If they get too "fluffy", then I tend to wash them off and put them back in the feeding bowl.

Re: Can you advise me on raw chicken wings?

I wouldn't be able to leave it with him for too long as it would have to be while my son is in bed. Would overnight be ok or is it not safe for him to have it when I'm not around? I was thinking about 8pm till 6am (then time to mop floor before he gets up)
