Is it an ear infection? Advice

Thomas has a bit of yellow crustiness round the bottom of each ear. I've had a look at them andthey don't look red or inflamed and he's ok with me touching them. Doesn't seem to bother him.
I just noticed it this afternoon. I've booked him in at vets for Weds first thing as I know coloured discharge tends to indicate infection.
Is there anything I could do in meantime to help.
As I say, he's not showing that its bothering him but if there is anything I can do I will. Clean with cooled boiled water maybe?
Anything else?

Does anybody know of anything better than cooled boiled water to clean his ears till the vets opens?

It's all dry and crusty around the base of the ear, ie where it joins on to his little head. It's not a lot of it, they're not hot or inflamed. I've got vet apt very first thing weds and he seems fine in himself but just wanted to see if anything else I could do to help in meantime.

That is strange isn't it well i take it you have cleaned it up, it could be that a scratch or bite infected it. Personally i never seen it in that place but cats like to show us new things lol

The only thing you can really to till WEd is wash it regularly and kep an eye on the baby

Re: Is it an ear infection? Advice

It's both ears
Yes, have cleaned them very separately with warm (boiled) water. He was purring throughout.
Will probably just get some antibiotics or something. He's such a well behaved little poppet.

Thanks hun
