Kitten ill - help would be really appreciated

Given xmas eve I have my fingers crossed here.

My kitten is 6 months old. 4 days ago he was castrated and has a prescribed worming tablet. I have arrived home and.

He has been sick 4 times (2 solid) (2 bile)
Crying if we touch him or our older cat goes near by
Occasionally laying on his back - paws twitching
Currently hiding behind the Christmas tree.

8 hours ago he was eating, going to the toilet and playing as though nothing was wrong. I can get to an emergency vet, I am insured but the simple question is - has anyone an idea what this could be, it is something which should be monitored or requires immediate vet attention.

Any clues or prompts to similar symptoms would be greatly appreciated.

no idea but id take him to the vet now since tommorow is xmas day and it could be even harder to get a hold of one. plus you will only spend the night worrying about him and wether you should go . if you take him now you will have one less thing to worry about as you will know that youve done what you can.

Re: Kitten ill - help would be really appreciated

The fact that he is crying to me means he is in pain and I would take him to the vets to make sure he hasnt eaten something he shouldnt have!! As you say you are insured etc so why worry about him not seeing a vet and just take him.

I hope it isnt anything too serious and that you have a good Christmas!!

Re: Kitten ill - help would be really appreciated

Thanks for the quick responses. I would add the vets are open 24hours a day 365 days a year so I have no issue there.

Kitten is currently just laying down and crying has completely stopped. Currently monitoring.

Re: Kitten ill - help would be really appreciated

Touch him, pick him up and feel his tummy. Does he cry or whimper, is he lethargic or limp, there is something SERIOUSLY wrong.
Only monitor it if he is reacting TOTALLY normally if you wake him up and physically examine him.
If you have the slightest doubt if he is in any pain or discomfort, or feeling poorly, take him to a vet right now.

He may have found some chocolate or some christmas decoration or whatever, and poisoned himself.....

Re: Kitten ill - help would be really appreciated

Just returned from emergency vet. Sickness appears to be a smokescreen. He has hurt his back leg, trust me when I say our placid kitten turned into a saber-tooth tiger when his back right leg was given gentle pressure.

2 injections and £120 later I am back home and praying recovery will be speedy and Christmas will turn back into 'fun'.

Thanks to all who posted and a Merry Christmas.

Re: Kitten ill - help would be really appreciated

Please please get him to a vet ASAP.
I am going through something simlar in a elderly cat and it's been awefull.
If he has been sick 4 times he will be dehydrated and will need fluids.
Being a baby he will dehydrate quicker.
The vet will either put him on drip if very bad or give you some rehydration support which you will give him by syringe in his mouth.
Your baby might look fine to you but you are not the vet.
It will also put your mind at rest.
Good luck and I hope he makes a quick recovery xx
