Wet food

Hi everyone,

I know this has probably been asked a bajillion times, but what wet food do you feed your kitties, how often and how much does it cost you a week?

We are currently moving our two 5 month old kittens from Whiskas kitten (what they were on when we got them) to Applaws kitten (dry) and occasional Applaws wet as it's complementary and I want to make sure they still get some moisture from meat (they're loving it so far!). They have a water fountain and drink a lot from that (a lot more than when they were on Whiskas), but I gather this is not enough to compensate for lack of moisture from meat?

I don't know, the more I read about dry food, the more I think they should be on wet! We picked Applaws dry as this seemed like a good dry food which we could easily get at PAH and won't break the bank and we both sometimes work very long hours.

I've read the sticky (which is excellent) but would be very interested to hear everyone else does!

Re: Wet food

I feed a mixture of raw, smilla, aminonda carny and bozita and grau - I use about a tin a day in wet and 120g in raw (for 3 cats).

So thats about £1.10 in wet and 33p in raw - so £1.40 between 3 cats so 47p each per day.

Oh I avoid dry cos it's bad, bad, bad

Re: Wet food

mine are all on a mis match at the mo as i have a new cat on her food from old home, one cat with a sensitive tummy and one suprisingly small cat who will eat anything and everything, over time i will phase out everybodys different food and get them on the same food.

in the cat cupboard at the mo, we have whisk..... natures menu, bozita, feline fayre, breeder nuggets or someit lol, and orijen

the only one that might stay is bozita thats only if millie takes to it and kobi can handle it

Re: Wet food

I feed a mix of Bozita, Animonda Carny, Smilla and NI (all complete foods) and average around 55p per day for one cat. Sometimes I buy a pigeon or a partridge from the butchers, sometimes I drop a couple of pieces of raw chicken/beef/lamb when cooking...

No dry is routinely offered, although very occasionally some Whiskas Temptations or Dreamies may escape the packet in the kitchen cabinet.

Re: Wet food

mine get Grau and Bozita plus one other brand per day [the other foods that get put into the mix are Petnatur, Tiger, Macs, Smilla, Granatapet, Lily's Kitchen, Ziwi Peak, Petfit, Almo nature, and Origen]. In New Year will add Om Nom Nom and some of the venison from Floyds [can't remember who this is made by] and take out the Ziwi peak. Works out about a £1 per cat a day sometimes less. So they do get a tiny bit of dry [as they do love it] but it is only a tiny percentage of their diet

Ah yes, sorry Spid - silly me!

It seems the general consensus here is order wet food online (unless you go down the raw route), and feed a variety.

Had no idea about any of this before joining this forum - always thought one kind of dry food was the way to go!

My OH is going to think I've lost the plot
