Antepsin suspension?

Hi!

My best friends cat has been ill recently. She has stopped eating and the vet said she is anaemic and dehydrated. He's worried she has internal bleeding or even cancer. Holly has been prescribed Antepsin Suspension 3 times a day which is liquid and is a human medicine by the looks of the info we've found on google. Has any one else had any experience with what holly is going through or the meds she's been given? She's had problems with her mouth recently and last Jules managed to get holly to lick. A bit of tuna off her finger but she ran away and growled. They gave the medicine this morning but she threw it up. Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks, Chrissy x

Re: Antepsin suspension?

How old is Holly? Has she had full bloods taken? If so how were renal values? I'm actually wondering if her problems are kidney related given what you've described. Why does the vet think it's cancer?

Yes, internal bleeding due to ulcers for one thing would cause or worsen anaemia and the Antepsin is to heal these. Do you think she had mouth ulcers as well? Not used it personally but know of cats who have. Slippery elm might also help if she's not responding to this so I would suggest this to the vet.

Re: Antepsin suspension?

Holly is almost 12. Cancer is just one of the possibilities. Not sure what was wrong with her mouth.
