Tinkerbell wont stop eating!

this is really getting me down, Tinky just eats and eats, never known anything so hungry! we have always had problems with her food ie she used to eat to quickly and bring it back up and we have to mash her wet food up because she isnt good eating it normaly.
and now i am just so worrys she is going to become humungus! she donsent have large meals at set times, she has little ones throught the day. she eats JWB and various wet foods. But she seems to always be crying for food, is this just her seeing how much she can get out of us? any advice? i dont want a fatty catty

Re: Tinkerbell wont stop eating!

Alfie is exactly the same.. he was the runt of his litter and I suspect he was last in line for food!

When I got him he was obsessed with food.. making a bee line for the fridge every time it opened of if I dared walk into the kitchen!

I think, if you just give her her meals at set times she will eventually get into a routine, and dont give into her!

Alfie has calmed down alot, but does occaisionally try to climb into the fridge now and then. LOL

Re: Tinkerbell wont stop eating!

Has she been wormed recently?Worms can cause an increased appetite. Or she might want attention rather than food - sometimes it's hard to tell which. Does she just have wet food? perhaps you could try leaving biscuits down for her so that she could eat whenever she wanted.

Re: Tinkerbell wont stop eating!

Well I heard a loud munching the other day.. turned around to see Alfie on the kitchen work tops eating butter out of the packet!!!

You will have to learn to ignore her, or as Lynn has said if it's attention she's after get some toys out and try and distract her from the fridge!

Re: Tinkerbell wont stop eating!

yep shes been wormed, i dont think its attention she is NOT a cuddly cat if she could talk she would say 'puny humen do not touch me' :P lol. well the JWB is dry how much of that should she get a day? this might be a stupid thing to compare it to but on the 'iams cat' advert (love that) he has quite a lot of biccys in his bowl, is that about the right ammount? maybe its not enough dry food and too much wet??

Re: Tinkerbell wont stop eating!

I leave dry down for them all day for them to nibble on.. then give them wet food 2/3 times a day

Re: Tinkerbell wont stop eating!

I usually give my two a couple of handsful each - kitten biscuits and grown up ones, though they do eat each others. Gizmo has two pouches of HiLife adult and Mai Tai has one of HiLife kitten a day and I top the biscuits up as necessary. They will both pester for 'real' food though when I'm doing dinner or making sandwiches in the morning.
