Re: Harley's been to the vets.
I'm glad it's nothing more serious, hope he's feeling full of beans again soon, bless him. x

The elder boy had similar thing 24 hours ago however he wasn't as bad and seems back to normal. In case the girl gets it, have a few extra supplies of the sachets Vet said they've had a few cats in who have got dehydrated because of the virus. I've never experienced it before in my cats. |

It is possible to make your own rehydration fluid with boiled water, salt and glucose but a commercial product like Lectade is also loaded with other vitamins and nutrients. |

Just to clarify, our kitten wasn't dehydrated, there was no worry there as we had caught it early. |

How's your boy now? Can be worrying when they don't seem themselves and off their food to that extent. Is hard to know what is up and no way of telling anything internal until tests are carried out. Did your vet say to bring him back in if he's not eaten within 24 hours, is he drinking. Hope it's okay for me to ask in this way. At least you're not alone in this in that there's peeps rooting here for you and your boy, hopefully this viral infection will pass quickly as your boy makes a perky recovery. I love his bed, did you make it? |

Re: Harley's been to the vets.
Aww Jill, I do hope he has eaten something for you by now, otherwise i would be quite worried about issues with fatty liver.
I suppose the ABX were just to rule out any secondary bacterial infection as the vet seemed to think it was viral in origin? They very often include a light steroid to reduce inflammation and boost appetite, do you know if this was given? I am sure you are offering him lots of tempting foods, how about some full fat probiotic yoghurt? Good protein and also will give him some fluids. |
