Worming advice for kitten

Hi, So as you know I picked up Thomas at the weekend. His breeder says he is due a wormer next week and so far she has been using Panacur paste.
I am not over familiar with worming for kittens, apart from I know it is very important. I had planned to take him to the vet and ask their advice on it but as he does not need to visit the vet for anything can anybody here advise me of a suitable worming programme? Or do I REALLY need a vets visit for this?

He is 16 weeks old and weighs 1.7kg

Hi JP

Hope all is well with you today and you're keeping warm.

When we took newest arrival on, breeder had him on Panacur, think is the usual; switched him over to tablet form (ours is milbemax) since our vet advised us this would be fine and more effective than the paste at the time he had his kitty check. Ours was less than 16 weeks when we put him on tablet (they have kitten formulation), since then, he's put on weight 2.5 kg and just wormed him on the adult one.

Hope this helps, WC

Some vets do a free kitten check with registration, might be worth asking? Or some surgeries will allow a nurse to check and dispense routine things like wormers.
I do think that Milbemax gives the widest coverage of all the wormers but it only comes on vet prescription.

I have registered him with my vet so will pop him in to get a prescription for this and some worming advice going forwards.

Oh Good, that first kitten check is such a fun appointment, time for the vet and nurses to ooh and aah over the newest addition.

Re: Worming advice for kitten

When I collect Seb from Patsy, she advised me to worm him once a month until he was 6 months old and then every 3 months. My vet said the same when we went for his 2nd vaccs and check up. I have been using Drontal tablets.
